Academy of Leadership & Management shortlisted for SFEDI & IOEE Award

The Academy of Leadership & Management (ALM) has been shortlisted for an award at the prestigious SFEDI & IOEE Celebrating Enterprise 2015 awards ceremony. The awards recognise individuals and organisations in the UK who are working to boost enterprise and support entrepreneurship.

The Academy of Leadership & Management has been nominated in the category of IOEE Centre of the Year. The Centre of the Year Award is given in recognition of a centre that has delivered beyond its remit, both meeting complex learners’ needs and exceeding the IOEE’s exacting standards. This nomination recognises the centre’s ongoing excellence as a provider of outstanding enterprise support programmes across Scotland.

An approved SFEDI Awards Centre, ALM delivers the Diploma in Business and Enterprise Support at SCQF Level 8, amongst a suite of other enterprise-related programmes. ALM’s directors maintain close connections with Scottish universities, including delivering the work-based learning element of Edinburgh Napier University’s BA Business and Enterprise. The ALM team shows particular adaptability in its development of an approach that uses online learning tools to deliver individual coaching to clients as far away as the Falkland Islands. Other nominated centres in this category include Norfolk Adult Education and Manchester College.

ALM Director John Parker said “My colleagues and I have been involved in delivering learning programmes for business support professionals for many years. This nomination provides strong recognition for the great results that they have produced over the years and, through this, the impact that their learners have had on Scottish businesses.”

Nic Preston, Chief Executive of SFEDI Awards, said “All three of the nominated centres put forward for the title of IOEE Centre of the Year are worthy of the accolade. The work undertaken by the Academy of Leadership and Management has been outstanding and particularly notable for its use of digital technology to engage with learners on distant shores.”

The winner will be announced at a glitzy award ceremony on November 4th at The House of Lords. Other awards due to be presented at the ceremony include Enterprise Educator of the Year, Most Enterprising Learning Product, Enterprise Support Champion, and many more.
